(Below is the second of a two-part conversation we had with Animal Hospital concerning what he [Kevin Micka] has been doing with himself these days, in the distant past, and the elusive future, discussing both his signature sound, and the pivotal part that all variety of metal, from boxes and genres to genres of boxes and boxes of genres, has played on that aforementioned signature sound of his, as well as many other topics of interest. Please do not be alarmed at the shocking content of this interview. Trained professionals were at the ready, as will you be, for this is Animal Hospital as you have never seen him before.)

GABRIEL BOYER: Well, I’m thinking that there’s these two memories, right?

ANIMAL HOSPITAL: Yeah.

GB: You put them together do they? Do they STAY as those memories, but in but in relation to each other, or do they become a brand new thing, or?

Nothing like this will ever happen in our story

Nothing like this will ever happen in our story

The astral plane has consumed everybody. True, Gundrun will be trapped in an in between place for all eternity, but as for the rest, they are stuck now in a world without windows, a place tickles at the heartstrings and beats upon the brain, where nothing is what it seems, and everything is very much what it seems, where the darkness is blinding bright, and the brightness is pitch black, where nothing could be better, and everything could be far far worse, where Butcher Billy finds a leg in a swamp, lines this marble hall chock full of vegetation moves like snakes in the high grass to cut off any and all escape. Be warned!

The music behind Twilight at the Lady Jane Grey College for Little Ladies

camille

(We here at Mutable had never heard of Camille Saint-Saëns until we did a search to find the perfect music to act as the background music for our own Twilight at the Lady Jane Grey College for Little Ladies, but have now become converted to his brilliance. The below article was originally written by Jerry Dubins and was found at arkivmusic.com.)

A number of years ago, while browsing through the bins in a used records shop, I came upon a French RCA pressing of a requiem by Camille Saint-Saëns, and I giggled aloud. Until that moment, I was unaware that Saint-Saëns had written a requiem, and for some reason I never imagined that he, of all composers, would have. It seemed somehow incongruous that a man who disdained religion—“When I hear from the pulpit the language of the Opéra-comique, I shall provide the appropriate music, but not before”—would turn his attention to one of the central liturgical texts of the Catholic Church. Yet I suppose it really ought not to have come as such a surprise, considering that for nearly 20 years he held the prestigious post of organist at the Church of the Madeleine in Paris.

GABRIEL BOYER: So there was was was was. What made you decide to start start Animal Hospital?

ANIMAL HOSPITAL: Um. The girl’s dating at the time. We wanted. We were planning a trip. Um. To go to a comic convention and go visit her family.

GB: Mhm.

Science behind our young scholars' trip into the future explained

Science behind our young scholars' trip into the future explained

This pivotal episode in our story involves many things, some to do with time, some to do with dog-sized whales, and some to do with people who just can’t take it anymore because they’re whiney bitches posessed by Satan who crave human flesh, and dislike monologues immensely. If you listen closely you can hear the entire storyline of the up-and-coming episodes splayed out along the strings of time Simone, Isabel, and Nathaniel are traversing after she’s eaten the cursed fruit blooms from out her belly into the most adorable little bird. Be prepared!

(Also listen for Butcher Billy falling through the skylight during Ursula’s monologue only to stop short of the floor with the help of her wizardry.)
